104 was the high today, it’s still 103. It’s not even July. Sigh.

Bumper sticker I saw yesterday and got a HUGE kick out of. It said, “I’d rather go hunting with Dick Cheney than driving with Ted Kennedy!“

Don’t know if everyone, the younger people, will get it when they see it but I knew what it was referring to with ole Teddy.

I have Bell’s Palsy. Thankfully it isn’t permanent. What it does mean is that for a while, weeks to months, the entire left side of my face is paralysed. After I had a good cry I decided to try and think of the good things to come out of this. So here’s list I started and will hopefully add to.

1. When I cut onions only one eye burns and tears up.

2. I will lose weight because half of the food I eat falls out of my mouth.

3. All those straws I bought years ago will no longer be wasted.

4. I can’t wear eye makeup. Fantastic because I don’t like to wear makeup.

5. I can do a killer Popeye impersonation.

6. I have accidentally rediscovered flirting with total strangers because I’m constantly having to manually blink my eye. Luckily my husband sees the humor in this.

That is it for now but like I stated earlier I hope to find more silver linings to add. If you can think of anything let me know!

As for the far more horrible stuff, I’ll know in about a week and a half what is going to happen. Keep my little one and I in your thoughts and prayers please.

The she is me. Woo! This is my third and last kiddo. I’m right around 15 weeks pregnant. I’ve been bursting at the seems to talk about it but I’ve only told my closest friends up to this point. So I have 2 girls and I’m gunning for a boy, but another girl would be great too.

I went to the OBGYN for my birthday and got the first pictures of my baby. Great present if I do say so myself. Here they are:

Now that I know the baby is doing spiffy and I’m not puking 4 to 5 times a day I’m psyched. I can’t wait for the next stages in my pregnancy and then to finally welcome my last baby into the world at the end of August.

I’ll most likely be posting more in about a month I hopefully will be finding out what the sex it.

AUSTIN — State Board of Education member Cynthia Dunbar isn’t backing down from her claim that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is plotting with terrorists to attack the U.S.

The Texas Freedom Network, a watchdog group that monitors the board, released a public statement on Monday asking Dunbar to retract the statement.

“I don’t have anything in there that would be retractable,” said Dunbar, R-Richmond. “Those are my personal opinions and I don’t think the language is questionable.”

In a column posted on the Christian Worldview Network Web site, Dunbar wrote that a terrorist attack on America during the first six months of an Obama administration “will be a planned effort by those with whom Obama truly sympathizes to take down the America that is threat to tyranny.”

She also suggests Obama would seek to expand his power by declaring martial law throughout the country.

“No matter who you support for president, we should all be able to agree that Ms. Dunbar’s disgusting attack is a shocking example of the extremism that has infected the state board,” TFN President Kathy Miller said.

“It’s stunning that a board member who helps decide what Texas children learn in their public schools would say something so disgusting and reprehensible. She should be taking refresher courses in civics and good citizenship, not deciding what Texas kids learn.”

The State Board of Education will begin revising public school social studies curriculum standards after adopting rules for science next year. Those standards will determine the content in new public school textbooks.

“Right now, we’re still in America and we still have freedom of speech,” Dunbar said. “And unless that’s changed, I’m not aware of it.”

This lady has monster balls and I am so impressed with her courage to speak her mind.  This is why I love Texas and probably am so willing to ignore it’s flaws.  It’s the people. Without a doubt. I for one am absolutely thrilled she is deciding what my children will learn and not some liberal, supposedly politically correct diarrhea that paints all whites to be devils that care for nothing more than killing “minorities” and oppression. I’m so fucking tired of it all. Yes your ancestors might have had it brutal maybe hundreds of years ago. I’m sorry. It’s time to move on, “for the healing to begin”.

But that’s besides the point. I applaud you Cynthia Dunbar. You said what you were thinking and didn’t back down from your beliefs because they might be unpopular. We need more people willing to stand up for the freedom of speech.

Just wanted to add a quick note. My spellcheck wants to replace Obama with Baa. As in sheep. Just a coincidence? I think not.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — A California man has been shot and killed by police after he stepped outside his home to confront suspected burglars.

Anaheim police said Julian Alexander heard an officer chasing four juveniles through his neighborhood early Tuesday and came out of his house with a broomstick to defend himself. Police said the officer ran into Alexander on his front lawn and shot him twice in the chest.

Alexander’s wife and mother said the officer told them to stay inside, and from the window, they saw Alexander handcuffed and bleeding. He later died at a hospital.

Police Chief John Welter said Alexander was innocent.

The Orange County district attorney’s office will investigate the shooting.

The officer’s name has not been released.

Well all I can say is wow.  I really don’t understand why the man was shot. Twice. I also don’t understand why he was handcuffed. Is this normal procedure? I don’t know how much of a threat he could be since he was shot and all. I could be wrong though, I just don’t see why the handcuffs were needed. He was armed with a broom, not a gun. I don’t get it.

Okay so this was harder than I thought it would be. R is not an easy letter. Most of the things I can think of that start with the letter R are not things I want in writing.

All affirmative action is doing is dumbing down our country. It tells people of color that they don’t have to work hard and earn their way. Worse it tells them that they aren’t smart enough to get jobs without being a person of color so why bother trying to get ahead with hard work and studying. I know that affirmative action was started to help minorities due to racism or whatever but enough is enough. It’s served it’s purpose and needs to stop. People who are more qualified for certain jobs can’t get them because they are white. What does this mean to the consumer? Simple. It means that you may not get the best customer service or the highest quality product because employers can’t necessarily hire the most qualified person for the job. That’s bullshit. People will say I’m a racist and all I can say is pffttt. If I were black or hispanic I would be pissed. I would have the mindset of how dare you think I’m not smart enough to get this job on my own. 

Affirmative action is one of the many things set up by the government to “help” our country and all it’s doing is widening the racial divide. These programs are doing far more harm than good. No group deserves special treatment purely because of the amount of pigment in their skin or their sex or sexual preference. Now I know people are going to say I don’t get it because I’m white. Well fuck you, I do. I’m a woman and I’m well aware of the glass ceiling. I had to get over it and work harder to get promotions and raises. Such is life. It sucks but all I can do is work harder and show that I deserve these things and I’m a better person for it. LIFE ISN’T FAIR. Get over it.

To my brothers and sisters of color. Don’t be mad at me. Be mad at the system that says you aren’t good enough or smart enough. Work hard and get jobs on merit, not a hand out. Show America that you are deserve to succeed because you are smart, not because of some stupid law that is doing nothing but bring down your races.

If this offends you, think about why it offends you. You should find it offensive because the government doesn’t think you’re good enough. Not because I think the system is bullshit.
